                Why ‘Burgers’ Marry from home

Ghanaians love to travel and live anywhere on our planet; from Alaska to Papua New Guinea.

On a lighter note, it is said that the chief vulcaniser in Iceland is a Ghanaian.

A significant thing is that Ghanaians abroad, irrespective of their social class and family back-ground, love to be identified completely as Ghanaians even if they hold foreign citizenship.

They see their stay abroad merely as an adventure to bring a fortune to, as the Akans put it, where their umbilical cords were cut and buried.

Today, Ghanaians abroad get every Ghanaian food item you can think of.  They read Ghanaian newspapers and listen to news and live events in Ghana and what is going now in Ghana why in abroad as a Ghanaian. They hear of events in Ghana faster than some of us do.

Again, if you ever attended a Ghanaian funeral abroad, you might think it was happening right in my home town,Ashanti region,Brong Ahafo,Northern Region,Tamale and Wetsern Region Fantes and the Gas through Obomeng – Kwahu.  You see red or black Ghanaian cloths and pouring of libations.

You will hear Ghanaian indigenous songs, donations and long announcements at these big parties with so much to eat and drink.  Ghanaians simply carry Ghana abroad.

It is also known that if it comes to marriage, the Ghanaian men want to come home and marry because marriage is central to the traditional and cultural practices of Ghanaians and you have to respect the original family rights and cultural of a marriage instead of wedding and biblical without the motherhood and born womb assistances of human right respect to the family in Ghana as many western countries knows.

Why not marry foreigners?

Men are generally threatened by long-term relationships because marriage failure destroys a man’s ego and self-esteem.

Mixed race marriages have genuine cultural conflicts which are rooted in our social beliefs, habits and values. Our values and needs differ.

Most Ghanaians in mixed-race marriages are unable to cope with cross culture adjustments. For example, a foreign wife wants to be pampered and kissed openly, but deep inside, the Ghanaian husband sees open kiss as a taboo. We communicate differently.

There is a story of a Ghanaian visitor who went to the home of a long-time professor friend married to a foreigner in the US.  He was just in time for dinner.

The Prof. was more than happy to invite his friend to dinner but his wife insisted the visitor must wait because she had made provision for only two people.

It was such an embarrassment to the Prof. but it made a lot of sense to the wife. Surely, a Ghanaian wife would have forfeited her meal as a sign of hospitality.

We can add that the foreign system almost over protect wives.  Foreign women can be controlling.  They expect you to share all household duties.

A wife abuse can get a husband in jail and you could lose your house and be banned from even getting close to your hard-earned property.

It is also known that almost all Ghanaians abroad dream of coming home.

It is almost a disaster to bring a foreign wife home as the cultural shock and low acceptability often have serious blows even to marriages known to be fulfilling.

Why not marry Ghanaian women abroad?

Ghanaian men are also reluctant to marry Ghanaian women abroad even when they wine, dine, socialize and even romance together.

The men fear that these women, having stayed abroad, have acquired women empowerment, freedom and pampered life.

The men complain their women have gone bad, that is too exposed, too experienced and independent to handle.

It is common to hear that when there is an argument between a Ghanaian husband and a wife married abroad, the woman would argue that she bought her own ticket to get abroad and would, therefore, not allow anyone to control her. They can hang on telephone 22 hours a day gossiping with friends, church goer member, pastors and a lots more….without paying attention to the husband they are with, even in time of romantics and sex sometimes is taboo,True……but can anyone control herself when someone unknown approach her soo nice and beautiful…seen than what He/She have been with now in abroad….?

Just take yourself and make a test you can see what will happened….No matter what weather you are rich or poor is the same story of bad things to see in your own eyes of relationship and marriages in abroad and then……..?
