SCIENTISTS START REGROWING TEETH WITH NEW TECHNOLOGIES….

All of us fancy booking a 5-minute dental appointment that will allow our dentist to regrow our natural tooth, right?

This could all be very possible soon thanks to the Harvard-led team that successfully used low-powered laser lights to coax stem cells to form new dentine – the hard core of the tooth.

Stem cells are “master or mother cells” that exist throughout the body. They have the ability to differentiate to other types of cells – which means that they have the potential to replace or repair damaged tissues!

Scientists have long theorized that low-level laser therapy can trigger biological processes like stimulation of hair growth and skin rejuvenation, but were uncertain about the mechanisms. This is the first time this process has been demonstrated and observed.

I am a dentist by training. So I think it has potential for great impact in clinical dentistry,” says the researcher Praveen Arany of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. This new technique could prevent the necessity for dental fillings and may possibly replace pricey root canal treatments in the future.

Although the experiments have only been made on rats in their lab, their findings offer a giant leap for both dentistry and regenerative medicine.

Dr. Dusko Ilich, a senior lecturer at the King’s College in London, said, “The approach seems to be pretty straightforward and although it sounds high tech, the technology is not prohibitively expensive. Quite contrary, it is low cost.”

Has it ever crossed your mind that you can regenerate your teeth and avoid fixtures?

Well, if you need a filling forget about dental Implants – there is another way to regrow your own teeth as well! Read about it just below.

Dental implants have become a great solution for us to fill the void after taking a tooth out, but they have their own disadvantages. There has been a really amazing development in the technology of dental implants that goes far beyond the classic implants and dentures. This development gives you the chance of growing new genuine teeth right in your oral cavity!

How to regenerate teeth in your oral cavity

This research was initiated by Dr. Jeremy Mao of Columbia University and it led to this amazing development.

Dr. Mao constructed a scaffold for missing teeth which contained stem cells from the body and it helped in regrowing new teeth by using its own DNA. Coming before all others, this technology promises a bright future for dental care.

Potential problems with dental Implants

Dental implants are an easy way to replace a missing tooth. But they have their disadvantages and can cause some health complications.

Take a look at some of the possible complications:

  1. Fixtures cost a lot of money
  2. Fixtures may be rejected by the body
  3. The dental implant might not link with the jawbone in a proper way
  4. It can come to infection and in that case the implant is removed
  5. If the dentist is not experienced enough it can come to tissue damage

The complications mentioned above suggest that a lot of money and precious time can be wasted and bring pain and discouragement if or when something goes wrong.

The benefits of regrowing your own teeth

Benefits are more than obvious! You can avoid the painful and long process of teeth extraction and then implantation and use this technology that gives you the chance of growing your own teeth in just 9 weeks!
The period of 9 weeks is approximately the time that a fixture needs to be placed and accepted by the body.

An enormous advantage of this technology is that it does not use alien materials when replacing the missing tooth. Your missing tooth is replaced by stem cells from your own body and the grown tooth fuses with the tissue that surrounds it. It is as simple as that.

By using this procedure there is also no need to regenerate the tooth in a cell-culture dish which results in quicker recuperating time.

Is this procedure accessible?

Unfortunately, the procedure is not yet accessible to masses. There has not been a better option than dental implants for decades now, so this dental practice promises everything: it is natural, it requires shorter recovering time and has smaller chances of being rejected by the body. This is great news for all those people who had wondered what to do if they ever have a missing tooth.

Other upcoming breakthroughs in dentistry

Curing a small cavity in a tooth without drilling is yet another breakthrough technique that is soon expected US wide. A cavity-filling method, which uses a paste that has similar molecular structure as tooth enamel, has already been developed. It works simply: the paste quickly links with the tooth and there is no need of drilling!

However, one should not forget that the most important thing is the oral hygiene. By using a high-quality, natural tooth paste, and flossing teeth at least twice a day, you have greater chances of keeping your teeth healthy, white and glowing.
