Police commend residents for their show of patriotism
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has commended residents within the Region for volunteering information to the police aimed at curbing criminal activities but cautioned the citizenry against boasting over how they relay information to the police.
According to the police, although they can offer protection to such whistle blowers, it is advisable not release critical or sensitive details of crime to outsiders first.
These comments follow concerns raised by section of residents about the police allegedly betraying individuals who inform them of various happenings in their respective areas to aid police investigations.
Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Yussif Mohammed Tanko on theUltimate Breakfast Show hosted by Prince Minkah, said persons who engage in such acts put their lives in danger.
“If you have any lead to a crime or sensitive information about a crime and think the attention of the police must be drawn to it, you don’t meet any police officer on the street and report. Call the regional police commander, his deputy or any divisional commander in order to be protected”, he said.
He further warned residents from bragging about volunteering vital information to the police not even to close relations for the sake of their own safety.
