MTN MOVES TO PROMOTE QUALITY EDUCATION IN GHANA.

As part of its interventions of promoting quality education in the country, MTN Ghana, the Leading Telecommunications Service Provider has taken another giant by refurbishing the school building of Street Academy in Accra.

This benevolent exercise forms part of MTN’s Yello Care Challenge which was instituted 10 years ago to enable the company to improve and sustain its relations with the people in the communities in which it operated.And also, strengthens the company’s brand, improves its relation with customers and build team work.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of this year’s 21 Days Yello Care Challenge the Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, explained that, the Y’ello Care is an annual staff programme that runs across the MTN Group from 1st to 21st June.

Adding that, the Yello Care also gives MTN Staff an opportunity to brighten lives through volunteerism.
This year’s 21 Days Yello Care Challenge was also themed: “Investing in Education for all.”

According to her, the company believes that infusing technology into the educational system can help bridge the development gap and extend educational opportunities to students in underserved communities.

According to UNESCO, three of the major forces shaping and driving education in the 21st century are:
The development and diffusion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs);
The increasing demand for new educational approaches and pedagogies that foster transformative and lifelong learning and
The reorientation of educational curricula to address sustainable development (SD).

This signifies that, it is important to shape our education system to embrace technology even at every basic level.
Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, hinted that, in line with the theme and keenly aware of the importance of technology, MTN volunteers will undertake various activities to promote education and encourage the use of technology during the 21 Days of Y’ello Care. The activities to be undertaken include:
