‘Mad man’ beheads family of five
A man believed to be mentally ill has beheaded five members of his family and two other neighbours at Assin Akrofuom in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
Kwasi Aganu who is believed to be an ex-convict lived with his parents at Akrofuom, where they all worked as farmers on a cocoa farm belonging to his parents.
The youth of the town have since lynched him.
Assin Fosu Divisional Police Commander, ACP Okyere Anane Darkwa who confirmed the incident on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Friday said the suspect was given a portion of the land by his family and he has lived on the farm all his life.
According to him, on Thursday, the suspect returned to Akrofuom, with a sharpened machete and swung it at his father, chopping his head off.
He followed up into the kitchen, where his mother was cooking and cut off her head before entering the living room where his grandmother was assisting his nephew with his homework and finished them off in similar fashion.
Kwasi continued his gruesome mission when he advanced on a neighbour who was helping his son with homework from school, and beheaded him as well.
The little boy managed to escape with a machete wound at his back to raise an alarm which attracted people to the scene.
After the heinous crime, Kwasi Aganu took to his heels but luck eluded him when the youth in the area arrested him in the bush and lynched him.
ACP Anane Darkwa said no arrest has been made so far but investigations are under way.
The bodies have been deposited at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu.
