A Tamale Circuit Court on Monday remanded Adamu Asuma, the man who is suspected to have kidnapped one Ishmael Hussein, a member of journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ private investigation company, Tiger Eye PI.
Hussein was swiftly rescued by the police in Tamale over the weekend, after his abduction on Saturday morning from his family house.
It is unclear what the motive for the failed kidnap could be. However, coming on the heels of the revelations on the judicial corruption by Anas and his team, there are suggestions one of the implicated judges may have masterminded the kidnapping.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, in an earlier interview with Citi News said Ishmael Hussein was coincidentally rescued from a shop belonging to a relative of one of the implicated judges exposed in the undercover investigations.
ASP Ebenezer Tetteh says the court presided over by His Honor Inspector Twumasi Appiah, did not take the suspect’s plea of not guilty; and remanded him to reappear on October 19, to allow the police conduct further investigations.
Meanwhile a member of the private investigative firm Tiger Eye PI has told Citi News attempts to intimidate them will not stop them from doing their work.
“We will term what has happened as an occupational hazard; but for our members across the country we are safe, secured and comfortable.
Our focus is not on what has happened and it’s not a distraction. Our focus is on the judges’ issue. Our colleague is doing very fine” he noted.
